WGA Results for August 14th 2013

We had Becky's Day today for our WGA play day.  The weather was great with a nice cool August day.  The ladies showed up with 17 players.  13 eighteen hole ladies and 4 nine hole participants.

Today's winner in the Gross division of the 18 holers was Norma Hyland.  She fired a nice 70 which had an 8 thrown out on the front nine but with her shooting a 38 on the back nine her largest score on any hole was a 5 so that was the one that had to go.  Great work Norma.  In second place on the gross side we had Tricia Knight scoring a 79 to take home the 2nd place prize money.

The net side of things was a little closer with Diane Tate scoring a 59 to claim the big money first place prize.  She was the picture of consistency firing 43 on each nine holes with 6 being the highest score on her score card.  Following her closely with a 62 today was Lorraine Schwerin who collected second place money for her stellar play.  Great work ladies!

The 9 hole ladies had Tina Maisano cashing in with her score of 33.  Great work Tina.

The chip in jar was full of cash from three weeks of carry overs.  The lucky lady today was Norma Hyland who chipped in on the 3rd hole and collected all the dough for her efforts.  Way to go Norma!

The birdie tree saw only one addition this week with Tricia Knight claiming a tweeter on the 12th hole.

Great work to all the ladies.  Just a reminder that next week the golf course will be closed on Monday-Wednesday for green aerification.  Tom is working on a place for the ladies to play on Wednesday so stay tuned.

Best,

Dave

Today we had two nine hole ladies and nine eighteen hole ladies with our format being President's Cup. The top spot in the gross division was split between a familiar face of Dot Kennihan and Diane Tate both fired an 88. The top spot in the net side was also split between Betty Lynch and Becky Deaton who fired smooth little 65's. Wanda Little nearly missed the top spot but settled into second firing a little 68.

The nine hole division was split between our only two ladies who shot the same score on both the gross and net side. Tina Maisano and Cathy Roofe both shot a gross 58 and a net of 40. Great job Ladies!

There were no chip in's today so the evergoing pot will continue to grow until next week.

We had three birdies today number 12 was a popular hole to birdie today as both Betty Lynch and Norma Hyland birdied it, but not to be outdone Diane Tate threw in a tweeter on the 13th hole.

Thanks to all the ladies who came out today. Next weeks format will be Becky's Day and will start at 8:30.

All the Best,

Hunter

WGA Play Day Results for July 31st, 2013

We had some familiar names pop up on the leader board today for the WGA Play Day.  The format was Pick Nine.  This is where the ladies choose their most favorite nine different holes and try to go low on those.  We had thirteen 18 hole ladies show up and five for the 9 hole game.

Dot Kennihan, who is no stranger to the first place position, was at it again with an excellent round that captured her the 1st place in the gross division.  She picked just the right holes that added up to just 5 over par.  She was just one shot ahead of the always competitive Lorraine Chalas.   In the net group we had Cathy Gough going way low with 4 under par!  She eeked out her nearest competitor by one blow over the always present Betty Lynch and Lynn Dunn who finished in a tie for second place.  Great work ladies!

The 9 hole ladies saw Cathy Roofe on top again with her 2 under score followed closely by Bev Logan at 1 under par.  Those ladies are tough to beat!

No Chip-in's this week so that money carries over to next week!

Only one birdie added to the birdie tree.  Carroll Scarborough came in from California to play and posted a nice 4 on the 15th hole!  Nice!

Thanks ladies and see you next week.

Best,

Dave

Today we had nine 18 hole ladies and five 9 holes ladies for today's President's Cup competition. There was some good play out there with Tricia Knight taking home the top spot on the gross side with an nice 86. Great job! The net side was won by Becky Deaton who fired a smooth little 72. Second place on the net side was taken by Dot Kennihan who carded a 73. The nine hole division saw Tina Maisano take home the win with a 51 on the gross side and Beverley Harper take the net side with a 44. Great playing ladies!!

The chip in pot was a carry over pot from last week and was split between Tricia Knight who chipped in on #2 and Lynn Dunn who chipped in on #3.

The lone tweeter of the day fell to Tricia Knight on #2 with her chip in.

Thanks for playing ladies! Next week we have the US Kids Tournament here so Tom will be taking a group of ladies over to Dormie Club to play at 11,11:10, & 11:20 the signup sheet is in the golf shop so don't forget to sign up before the spots get filled.

All the Best,

WGA Results for July 10th 2013

Today we had 10 players come out and battle for the top spot in the format of Low Putts.  With this format it is all gross and no strokes for the ladies.  The top dog in this fight was a very familiar name over the past few weeks.  This champion has just posted either a share of the first place or first place outright for her 4th week in a row!  Betty Lynch is like butter because she is on a roll!  She posted the lowest putt total of 31.  Congrats to Betty for a job well done!  The second place spot was a three way tie at 32 putts.  That spot was shared between Lisa Butcher, Monica Lipomi and Lois Lee.  The lone birdie of the day was by Lisa Butcher who had a tweeter on the 6th hole.  No one chipped in today so that is some big money in the pot for next week.  Next week is the rescheduled President's cup instead of the inside 100 yards.  I will be out of town so I am confident Gordon and Hunter will take good care of my Ladies.

Best,

Dave

WGA Results for June 26th, 2013

With the temperature gauge climbing today some of our players were hot! hot! hot! The format was
ONES.  That is where you count only the holes that start with O N E or S.

The Gross winner today we had a tie between Ann Filo & Norma Hyland.  The both fired a total of 41 in the ONES format to claim that top spot and a share of first place prize money.  Great work Girls!

The Net side of things had a tie alos for the first place spot.  Lynn Dunn and Betty Lynch were the best of the Net today with their score of 34.  They were also just ahead of their nearest competitors by one shot.  Great work ladies.

Is anyone noticing the theme today of ties? In the 9 hole division we had a three way tie between Carol Spears, Cathy Roofe and Tina Maisano.  I guess they felt like splitting all the money today!  Nice going girls.

There was only one chip in today and that was Bev Harper!  She made it on her home hole #5.

The birdie tree had only one addition to it and it was Betty Lynch.

See you next week for our format of Presidents Cup.

Best,

Dave

2013 Couples Club Championship Results

This year's Couples Club Championship was a very well attended event and I would like to thank everyone that took the time and effort to play in the tournament.  We had 10 teams competing for the crystal this year and that always coveted invite to the Champions Dinner.  The format for the Championship was Alternate shot.  We had the divorce lawyers on high alert as many marriages were tested on the links today.

The Gross Champions are no stranger to the top spot of a club Championship.  The team of Bruce Chalas and Lorraine Chalas have won their fair share of tournaments.  They did it today by alternating shots and coming up with a total score of 82.  There was some post tournament squabbling about how many shots were hit into which hazard by one of the teammates but it all seemed to work itself out as these two will get another invite to the year end Champions Dinner.  Well done Bruce and Lorraine

The net side of the competition was quite close with many couples crowding that top spot.  Unfortunately there can be only one winner here and that was the team of Russ & Stephanie Stokes.  They fired a very impressive net score of 68 to claim their spot at the Champions Dinner.  They were the picture of consistency with nothing higher than a six on the scorecard.  Congratulations Russ & Stephanie!

Once again I would like to thank all participants for playing in this years Championship.  It is definitely your participation that makes a great event.

Best,

Dave
