WGA Play Day Results for April 17th, 2013

Today we had the ever popular Mutt & Jeff format for the WGA Play day.  This format is where you throw out all those par 4's and just count the 5's & 3's.  We had nineteen 18 hole players and three 9 hole participants for today's action.  The ladies may have had such a large showing because they knew it was a carry over for the chip in jar.  You know how they like to win the big money!

In the Gross division or our game today we had a close race for 1st place with Sharon Fields coming out on top by going just two over par on her 3's & 5's!  Norma Hyland was the second place finisher helped out by her miraculous 4th shot on the 15th hole that found the bottom of the cup from 54 yards out!  That shot earned her a share of the Chip In pot that was worth $9.50!  Great work to both of our Gross winners!

The top dog (no offense) in the net portion of our Mutt & Jeff was a tie from two ladies who went deep today!  The both scored an impressive 6 under par 27!   Tricia Knight who is starting to find her form after a brief hiatus over the winter time.  Her round was capitalized by a back nine of 4 under par!  Great work Tricia!  Susie Points who just came off of back surgery during our winter season did not take long to find her way back to the winners circle.   She had 7 net birdies to capture her share of first place.  Great work ladies!
Maureen Buckley captured the 2nd place spot and Susan Courneya was in the 3rd place position rounding out the top paying positions.

The 9 hole ladies division was dominated by Carol "Flipper" Spears with a nice 25 for her back 9 mutt & jeff score.  She was three shots clear of her closest competitor.  Nice work Flipper!

The other chip in besides Norma Hyland was Cindy Tew.  Word around town is that her first attempt was not quite what she hoped for but her second found the bottom of the cup for a share of the chip in pot.  Congratulations to Norma and Cindy!  Don't spend all that dough in one place.

The birdie tree got a little more crowded today with 4 more birdies.  Dot Kennihan, Susan Courneya, Betty Lynch and Norma Hyland.  Well done ladies.

Thanks to all for playing today and we hope to see you next week!

Best,

Dave
