WGA Results for Wednesday, June 19th

We had a small group for our Low Net / Low Gross format today.  Not sure why because the weather was perfect for golf.  A little breeze and a nice warm day.  The 18 hole group had nine ladies show up to duke it out while the 9 hole group had 3 hearty travelers.  

In the 18 hole division we had Diane Tate make a return trip to the winners circle for the Gross portion with her round of 85 which was 9 shots better than her closest competitor.  She was the picture of consistency with a 42 on the front and a 43 on the back.  Nice work Diane!  The net winner for today was Betty Lynch, who is no stranger to a cash payout in the net division.  She posted a very low round of 69 to capture the top spot.  In the second place position we had a tie with Dot Kennihan and Susie Points sharing the prize money.  Great work ladies!

The 9 hole ladies top money winner was Cindy Boals who fired a nice net 39 to rake in some well deserved sweeps credit.  

Cathy Gough was the only skilled player to chip in today so she walked out of here with all the cash today.  Great work Cathy!

We had two additional Aves today.  One for Diane Tate on #8 and one for the chipping master Cathy Gough on the 11th hole.

Thanks to all the ladies for playing today.  Next week we will have the 7:30 breakfast meeting and the 8:30 start for golf with the 1's format.

WGA Play Day Results for June 5th 2013

We had  eleven 18 hole ladies and five 9 hole ladies for today's President's Cup competition.  The players turned is some good play with Dot Kennihan showing that she has what it takes to capture the top spot in the gross division.  She had a bit of slow start on the front 9 with a 45 but lit up the back 9 with a very nice 39 for a total of (just in case you have trouble with math) 84.  Great work Dot!  The Net winner is no stranger to that top position.  Betty Lynch fired a smooth 66 to claim first place money with Becky Deaton trailing right behind her at 68.  Nice work in the net division ladies.  The 9 hole division saw Cathy Roofe taking home the Gross prize with her score of 54 while Tina Maisano claimed the net prize with her score of 41.  Well done girls!

The Chip in pot was a carry over from last week and the pot was split between Maureen Buckley who chipped in on #7 and our gross winner today Dot Kennihan chipped in on #13.

The birdie tree was so crowded that I had to make two lines of winners so check out the results sheet below to see who managed to get it under par on a few holes.

WGA Play Day Results for May 29th 2013

Hot time in the windy city for the ladies today for their Pick a Partner format.  We had a total of 15 ladies show up today for golf.  11 eighteen hole players and 4 nine hole players.

The Gross division of the Pick a Partner was extremely close with the team of Diane Tate and Lorraine Chalas pulling off a one shot victory over Norma Hyland and Maureen Buckley.  They fired a respectable 79 to take the first place spot in the gross.   No need for tears for Maureen and Norma because they topped the field in the Net Division with a very low round of 60.  Great work girls!

In the 9 hole division we had a low net/ low gross game.  The pinnacle performer for the gross division was a visitor to the 9 hole ladies.  She is coming back from major surgery and her doctor told her to ease back into golf.  I guess her way to ease back in is to collect a little cash on the way.  Great job Mrs. Cindy Boals for taking first place prize in the gross division!  The net champion for the 9 hole ladies is quite the familiar face.  Mrs. Cathy Roofe fired a very tidy net 37 to collect her share of the prize money.  Nice work Cathy!

No Chip in's today so we will have a carry over for next week!

The birdie tree is getting crowded with three new additions this week.  Tricia Knight, Norma Hyland and Diane Tate all made a birdie today.

WGA Results for May 22nd 2013

Today's format was throw out one.  This was where the ladies were allowed to take their worst hole on each side and stick it in the trash bin!

Tricia Knight showed her A game today with a very consistent 44 on the front and 44 on the back. This ended up being a gross 74 in the throw out one game.  This score was good enough for first place by 3 shots over her nearest competitor.

The Net division was topped out by Becky Deaton.  She lit it up with a white hot 57 in today's game which pretty much lapped the field.  The second place position was tied at 62.  Diane Tate and Betty Lynch locked horns for that last paying spot.

The Chip in pot was a carryover from last week and had a single winner this week.  Bev Harper found her lucky 13 hole and chipped in to claim the big purse.  Nice work Bev!

Tricia Knight was the only one to make a birdie today so she gets one more birdie on the tree.

The 9 hole ladies had newcomer Liz Hemming finding the winners circle with a gross score of 55.  The net division had Carol "Flipper" Spears cashing in with her very tidy score of 39.  Great work ladies.

WGA Play Day Results for Wednesday May 15th 2013

Small showing today for our ladies play with the Ladies Member Guest going on over at CCNC.  We had 7 Ladies for the 18 holers and 7 Ladies for the 9-hole group so with my big computer like brain I came up with a total of 14 players!  The format was changed from best ball of the three player team to individual low net and low gross.

In the net division we had Paula McEachen taking the first place prize by just one shot over Betty Lynch.  Paula fired an impressive 2 under par 70 on the road to the victory circle.  Great work Paula!

In the gross division Mrs. Pat Blank is going out with a bang by topping the ranks with a 92.  She wanted to leave a little something for the ladies to talk about before she went back up north for the summer.  Mission accomplished Pat!  Nice work.

In the 9-hole division we had Heather Barnwell Taking the gross prize with a 55.  She just cashes a check every time she tees it up.  In the net we had Cathy Roofe besting the field with a net 41.  Great work for our two 9 hole champs!

We had no Chip-in's or Birdies today.

WGA Results for May 1st 2013

Seemed like a bit of a fall day outside today rather than a spring day.  My ladies are tough though so they showed up anyway.  Mrs. Wanda Little said she had to dip into the winter wardrobe that she had already stored away.  The format today was the President's cup.

The battle for first place on the Gross side ended up in a tie with Sharon Fields and Diane Tate sharing the spotlight by firing 89.  They both had birdies and chip in's to help spur their victory march today.  Nice going ladies!

The net side of things had Tricia Knight visiting the winners circle with here round of net 70.  Tricia did it with a hot start by shooting a four under par 32 on the front nine.  The second place spot was filled by Betty Lynch who is somewhat unfamiliar with this position as she is more accustomed to the first place spot.  There was a tie at the third place position with Pat Blank and Susie Points wrapping up the last paying spot with there score of 74.  Nice going to all the winners in the net.

We had a carry over for the chip in's from last week with $18 in the pot!  Four ladies chipped in today to split that pot.  Sharon Fields, Dot Kennihan, Pia Orlandi and Diane Tate were all lucky enough to share in the big money!

The birdie tree had some additions with four ladies posting birdies.  Tricia Knight, Sharon Fields, Paula McEachen, and Diane Tate were the additions to the tree.

WGA Results for April 24th 2013

Beautiful day today but scoring conditions for my ladies was a bit tough because of a little wind.  The Format  was Three Blind Mice where the girls throw out their three worst holes to come up with their score.  Many of the ladies after play were lobbying for more throw out holes.

Dot Kennihan found herself in the winners circle on the gross side with a very respectable gross score of 69.  Nice shooting Dot!  The first place winner in the Net side of things was Pat Blank.  She has been on a bit of a tear lately cashing checks every time she tee's it up.  She scored a super low 51 for her three blind mice.  She was followed in the second place position by Lynn Dunn at 55 and in third place, only one shot back, was Becky Deaton.  Congrats to all the winners of the three blind mice game.

We had four ladies in the 9 hole group with Karen Mamuzic taking first place in the Gross and Beverly Logan claiming first place prize money in the Net.  Well Done!

No chip in's today so make sure you show up next week for the big carry over pot!

Just one lone birdie today by Susie Points on the 15th hole.  Nice work Susie!
