WGA Member Member Championship Day 1 Results

The tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife this morning as the ladies readied themselves for this years hotly contested Ladies Member-Member Championship.  The girls were not their usual chatty selves this morning with the tournament on the line.  They had their minds focused on the task at hand.  Winning the trophy and getting that coveted invite to the National Golf Club's Champions dinner in November.

The weather man served us up a hot one today with temperatures hitting the 90+ mark.  It did not seem to affect the play of Lorraine Chalas and Lisa Butcher who produced an excellent gross score of 77 to lead that division by 9 shots.  Wow!  That is awesome ladies!

The net division is being led by the always steady Dot Kennihan and Betty Lynch with a net score of 61.  They don't have as comfortable of a lead over their closest competitors.  Just 3 shots behind lurks three teams that are all capable of going low.  Lipomi/Boals, Tew/Points & Tate/Mceachen.  I would be safe to say that with tomorrows format of Captains Choice no lead is safe in this tournament.

We had two chip in's today with Cindy Boals dropping one in on the 3rd hole and Maureen Buckley holing one out from 50 yards away to take home her portion of the $10 chip in pot.  Nice work ladies, you both get to take home a cool finsky for your hard work.

Lisa Butcher was the closest to the hole winner on #9 and Monica Lipomi captured the prize on the 17th hole.  Nice work you two.  They both pocketed $7.50 in sweeps credit for their efforts.

See you ladies bright and early in the morning for the final day of the 2012 Ladies Member/Member Championship.

All the best,

Dave
