WGA Results for May 23rd, 2012

This week's WGA was changed to the President's cup due to the exchange day scheduled for next Wednesday here at National.

At the top of the heap today was sharpshooting Dot Kennihan in the Gross division firing an 88 edging out Diane Tate by 1 shot.  She claims first place money position with a significant payout of $9 in shop credit.  Nice going Dot!

The #1 spot in the Net division was taken by Monica Lipomi with a 72.  She cashed in with $9 in credit.  The second place spot was also only one shot behind with Tricia Knight and Susie Points tying for 2nd place.

The 9 hole ladies saw Cathy Roofe taking home 1st place honors  with a score of 69.  She deposits $4 in here sweeps account.  She needs to be careful because Hank will probably spend that money before she can.

The carryover chip in pot saw a 3 way split today with Tricia Knight chipping in on the 10th hole and Karen Finegold along with Diane Tate both holing out on the 11th hole.  Nice work ladies!

We had two birdies today with Diane Tate and Karen Finegold's chip-in's on 11 resulting in birdies to go on to the coveted birdie tree.

Thanks for playing ladies.  Next week is the Exchange day with Mid South where 12 of our ladies will duke it out with 12 of their ladies.  The play will go off at 9am sharp.

Best,

Dave

WGA Results for May 16th 2012

A forecast for scattered thunderstorms will not deter our ladies from playing golf for sure.  We had a nice showing of 22 ladies for their play day today.  6 nine hole ladies and 16 eighteen hole players.

In the 9 hole competition the team of Karen Mamuzic, Tina Maisano and Cathy Roofe were at the top of the heap with a score of 35.  They each will pocket the tidy sum of $4 each for their hard work.  Nice going girls!

The 18 hole competition had a Gross & a Net division.  The format was better ball of the three player team.  We had a few uneven teams (two twosomes) so we had to blind draw a player for those two teams.  The team of Stephanie Stokes, Lorrraine Schwerin, and Paula McEachen went low with a score of 60 to claim first place in the net division.  The gross prize was won by a two player team that had a blind draw partner.  I do feel compelled to let everyone know that the blind draw partner did not help the winning team thanks to Tricia Knights stellar play.  The team shot a winning score of 83 and Mrs. Knight was 85 on her own ball.  Great work today ladies!

There were two birdies today on hole #3 by Becky Deaton (her home hole)  and #12 by Tricia Knight

No one chipped it in today so next weeks pot will be double.

Next weeks format is the President's Cup so bring out your A game.  It will be breakfast at 8:00 am and a shotgun start at 9:00 am

2012 Ladies Member Member Championship Final Results

2012 Ladies Member Member Champions
Dot Kennihan & Betty Lynch

The results are in and the outcome has a bit of déjà vu to it.  Maybe that is because the winners of last years Ladies Member Member Championship, Dot Kennihan and Betty Lynch were able to successfully defend their title this year.  They were tied after day one and held off all challengers to claim the crown again this year.  It was a close race with the second place team of Lorraine Chalas and Lisa Butcher finishing just 7 tenths of a shot back!  Whew that was a close one!

All the cash was paid out for the event today in sweeps credit and here are all the winners:

Overall Champions:
Dot Kennihan and Betty Lynch $15 each

Day Money Winners:
Wednesday Gross: 77
Lorraine Chalas & Lisa Butcher  $10 each
Wednesday Net:  64
Monica Lipomi & Cindy Boals, Cindy Tew & Susie Points, Diane Tate & Paula McEachen  $3.33 each

Thursday Gross: 78
Karen Finegold & Stephanie Stokes $10 each
Thursday Net: 73.2
Tracy Lorenz & Pat Blank $10 each

Closest to the hole winners $7.50 each:
#2 Diane Tate
#9 Lisa Butcher
#12 Lorraine Chalas
#17 Monica Lipomi

The cold hard cash for chip in's for the event was paid today also with the following ladies bringing home the bacon!

Cindy Boals & Maureen Buckley chipped in to share Wednesdays pot of $10.

We had three ladies divvying up the moola today.  Congrats to Pat Blank, Karen Finegold & Cindy Tew.

Great work to all the ladies who played in this years event.

Best,

Dave

Former Champion Becky Deaton chips one close on #9

Let me get that yardage for you ladies.

Norma Hyland sending one in from about 70 yards away on the 10th hole.

Susie Points says let me show you how it's done partner.  Go team pink!

Ball in the woods you say.  No problem for trick shot artist Dot "Dead Eye" Kennihan.

Diane Tate must have had some excellent words of encouragement for her
partner Paula.  Just check out how close she hit that chip shot!

Paula said "It's no big deal that's how close I usually hit it"

I'm not sure if Dot is praying or helping her partner line up.  Maybe a little of both.

Trish Knight rifles one into the 16th green as Maureen Buckley looks on.

2nd place finisher Lorraine Chalas puts one on the 16th green from about 105 yards away.

Stephanie Stokes hitting a beauty of a shot to the 11th green.

Did you see my shot!  Don't you think it was great?

Where is the beer cart?  We are in dire need of some refreshments!

Looks like that golf ball is about to take a beating from Tracy Lorenz.  Hey do you recognize that house in the background?

WGA Member Member Championship Day 1 Results

The tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife this morning as the ladies readied themselves for this years hotly contested Ladies Member-Member Championship.  The girls were not their usual chatty selves this morning with the tournament on the line.  They had their minds focused on the task at hand.  Winning the trophy and getting that coveted invite to the National Golf Club's Champions dinner in November.

The weather man served us up a hot one today with temperatures hitting the 90+ mark.  It did not seem to affect the play of Lorraine Chalas and Lisa Butcher who produced an excellent gross score of 77 to lead that division by 9 shots.  Wow!  That is awesome ladies!

The net division is being led by the always steady Dot Kennihan and Betty Lynch with a net score of 61.  They don't have as comfortable of a lead over their closest competitors.  Just 3 shots behind lurks three teams that are all capable of going low.  Lipomi/Boals, Tew/Points & Tate/Mceachen.  I would be safe to say that with tomorrows format of Captains Choice no lead is safe in this tournament.

We had two chip in's today with Cindy Boals dropping one in on the 3rd hole and Maureen Buckley holing one out from 50 yards away to take home her portion of the $10 chip in pot.  Nice work ladies, you both get to take home a cool finsky for your hard work.

Lisa Butcher was the closest to the hole winner on #9 and Monica Lipomi captured the prize on the 17th hole.  Nice work you two.  They both pocketed $7.50 in sweeps credit for their efforts.

See you ladies bright and early in the morning for the final day of the 2012 Ladies Member/Member Championship.

All the best,

Dave

Karen Finegold doing her best to line this one up and roll it in from about 10 feet away.

Pat Blank trying to forget all the bad advice her husband Jim has given her before she hits this ball.

Tracy sizing up the next shot.  Should I go over the bunkers or in the bunker?
