Beautiful spring day for the ladies today but lots of the yellow pollen in the air. Today's format was the always popular President's cup. We had some star performers today starting with the Gross winner for the Day, Lorraine Chalas. She scored a respectable 84 being most consistent on the par 4's with 5 par's. Great work Lorraine. The net category had Diane Tate with the lowest score of 69. She was the par 3 champions with only one bogey and three pars. Only one shot back we had a tie for 2nd with Betty Lynch and the always formidable Mrs. Patricia C. Blank. Great work girls!
The 9 hole ladies had an interloper with Paula McEachen winning the gross division and Beverly Logan scooping up the net prize. These ladies are no stranger to the winner circle.
No chip in's today so make sure to play next week for the big chip in pot carry over!
We had four ladies who added some birdie balls to their arsenal. Monica Lipomi #3, Stephanie Stokes #5, Karen Finegold #9 & Maureen Buckley #12.
Great work to all the ladies. We appreciate you playing. See you next week.
Best,
Dave

| WGA Exchange Day Champions Pat Blank, Tricia Knight, Barb Lewis & Ro Kachel |
In today's WGA Exchange Day event with Fairwoods #7 we had twenty four ladies divided into six different teams battling it out for the $24 jackpot! The weather was very cooperative with a little light fog in the morning that burned off quickly and gave way to beautiful Carolina spring day. The format for the day was one best net ball of the four player team. We had a bit of a runaway victory with the team of Pat Blank, Tricia Knight, Ro Kachel & Barb Lewis shooting an unbelievably low score of net 53! The anchor of the team was Pat Blank who shot a net 65 on her own ball. She obviously had some help to get to the 19 under par score with her teammates contributing in many key areas for sure. Congratulations to this team for their newly found wealth. Thanks to all the ladies for coming out and enjoying the day!

| 2013 Ladies Member Member Champions Lorraine Chalas and Stephanie Stokes |
On day two the wind was up and the conditions were a little tougher for the captains choice format. The competition was fierce with this years champions eking out a victory by less than 1 shot. Make sure to congratulate this years Champions, Mrs. Lorraine Chalas and Mrs. Stephanie Stokes for their exceptional play and for being this years first invite to the coveted year end Champions Dinner. They did it by shooting a two day total of 140.85. Great work ladies! We had two more closest to the hole contests today on #2 & #12 with Susan Courneya cashing in on #2 and we had a tie for closest on the 12th hole where Lorraine Chalas and Maureen Buckley claimed that prize.
Thanks to all the ladies for playing this year. We certainly appreciate your support!

WGA Play Day March 20th 2013
Another cool one today for the ladies but it did not keep Norma Hyland and Maureen Buckley from heating up with victories in the Low Gross/Low Net games today. Norma was the top dog for the gross division with a score of 89. Not bad given that the weather was pretty cool and the wind was blowing a bit. She started the day off with a chip in on the 16th hole for a par then proceeded to play the next 5 holes in only two over par. Stumbling a little through the middle of the round she righted the ship towards the end and posted her winning score which was five shots clear of her nearest competitor. Nice work Norma! The champion in the net division was Maureen Buckley. She struggled a little on the front at the start but finished the outward nine with two net birdies to shoot a net thirty eight. The inward nine for her was a story of consistency with only one net bogey and two net birdies she carded a thirty five to go with her thirty eight and take the first place spot by three shots over the second place finisher Wanda Little. Good going Maureen.
We had only one chip in and one birdie for the day today. The chip in was Norma Hyland on hole 16 as previously mentioned and Karen Finegold made a most excellent birdie on the 9th hole today. You know what that means Karen. Make some room for another birdie ball. Whoo-Hoo!
The nine hole ladies had three die hards competing for the low net prize which was captured by Beverly Logan. She shot a net 45 to take home all the dough. Well done Beverly!
Thanks again to all the ladies for playing today and see you next week.
Best,
Dave

WGA OPENING DAY!!
Today started off early for my girls with a very nice breakfast prepared by the Cornerstone. The ladies fueled up for a great day on the links in the newly remodeled Cornerstone Bar & Grill. We had a great showing with almost 30 people for breakfast and 21 players for golf. Back where I am from in the cold country of North Dakota they had a saying for the spring weather. In like a lion and out like a lamb. Today was one of those lion days with the wind blowing and the weather a bit chillier than the last few days but the sun was shining with some beautiful blue sky poking through. The format for the day was to mix up the 9 hole ladies and the 18 hole ladies and let them go at it for a captains choice cage match! We had a net winning team and a gross winning team for today. The gross winners ran away with it by turning in a bogey free score card of three under par 69! The team consisted of Diane Tate, Phylis Hudson, Susie Points & Pia Orlandi. Nice work ladies! They take home the ample sum of $6 each in pro shop credit. The net winners scored a very respectable 60.5 net to claim their winning checks for Opening day. The group consisted of Susan Courneya, Wanda Little & Betty Lynch. Great work ladies! The will also deposit $6 into their pro shop credit accounts. I am sure their husbands will be happy to spend that money!
We had two chip in's today. One from Susie Points on the 8th hole to birdie that one for her team. The other chip in winner was Stephanie Stokes on hole #7 to help her team to their first of two birdies on the front nine. Way to go Stephanie! Both chip in winners pocket $4.50 each for their efforts.
Thanks to all the ladies that played today and came out for the breakfast. It was a great day! Hope to see you next week at you WGA Play Day which starts at 10:00 am

The Gross winner of today's event was the duo of Maureen Buckley and Norma Hyland. The managed to get around the front 9 in one over par 37 to best their nearest competitor by one shot. Nice playing ladies! They will also receive $6.50 each in pro shop credit for their excellent work on the links.
We had one chip in to end the season and that was Bev Harper who ushered her team to victory with a most excellent chip in for par on the 6th hole. Way to go Bev!
Even though this is the last official WGA play day of the year we don't want our girls resting on their laurels all winter. We will have regular times booked on Wednesdays and Friday's around 10am for all those wanting to play. Those interested in playing please either email (proshop@nationalgolfclub.com) or call the golf shop and we will put your name on the list.
Don't forget about the Champions dinner rescheduled for Friday the 16th of November. We hope that all of you can make time for this exciting evening to celebrate or 2012 champions. The event will start with Cocktails at 6pm with dinner and awards to follow.
Thanks to all the WGA members for all the nice words about the WGA Blog. I have enjoyed doing it and we here at National will strive to continue improving our communication with our most valuable asset, Our Members.
Thanks again,
Dave
